A Mission Worth Showing Up For
“Thank you for your service” is nice, but veterans deserve more than polite applause and a lone LinkedIn post on Veterans Day.
They deserve real opportunities. Real support. And real jobs that actually value what they bring to the table.
That’s where we come in.
At Bonney Staffing, we’re proud to support the Maine Hire-A-Vet Campaign—a statewide effort to connect veterans and military families with employers who get it. We’ve had boots on the ground since the campaign’s launch in 2015 because we believe in showing up, not just sounding supportive.
And that commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Our longtime support of veteran hiring even earned us the 2015 Above and Beyond Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a division of the Department of Defense that honors employers for going—you guessed it—above and beyond in their support of military-connected job seekers.
“It’s an honor we don’t take lightly, and one that keeps us reporting for duty, year after year,” says Samantha Coe, Operations Administrator for Bonney.
“So far, Bonney has helped place more than 200 veterans and military family members in good-paying jobs across the state.”
And for Samantha, this commitment is personal.
“I’ve been involved with the campaign since it began, and every year I’m reminded why this work matters. It’s incredibly rewarding watching hundreds of veterans find meaningful work across the state.”
Why? Because veterans don’t just fit into a workplace. They fortify it.
They’re adaptable under pressure.
They bring structure, leadership, and accountability.
And yes, they actually show up on time (imagine that).
Why We Hire Veterans (and Why You Should Too)
Hiring veterans is a power move for your business. Think of it as a tactical advantage.
From the shop floor to the front office, veterans bring the kind of discipline, grit, and get-it-done attitude that strengthens your entire team.
Here’s where veterans we’ve placed tend to shine:
- Manufacturing
- Administrative and office support
- Customer service
- Warehouse and distribution
- Human Resources
And when we say “placed,” we don’t mean tossing résumés like grenades and hoping something lands.
We take the time to understand each veteran’s skills, career goals, and what success looks like in civilian life—so we can deploy them where they’ll thrive.
